In Sanskrit, the word Hatha is the yoga of balance. “Ha” represents sun and “tha” represents moon. Hatha yoga is a path toward creating balance and uniting opposites. This refers to the balance of the feminine and masculine within all of us.

In this class we will work with stoking the fire called Agni in the physical body while finding fluidity which we call Soma. This will help develop a sense of ease between effort and surrender. Working with the mind, we will gather tools to help us stay more present and enhance our awakening of consciousness. When we learn how to become more aware of our stored patterns and pain, we begin to open up and make room for spiritual growth and healing, and more space for love in our lives and our hearts for ourselves and all beings.

Hatha yoga is a tool for self transformation. Just by accessing and utilizing our breath alone and understanding the causes of suffering, we gain more clarity and understanding in the mystery of life. Our hearts can open and expand, and we then can be more present and adaptable to that which is always changing.

Vichara is a term we often use in yoga which means self inquiry. There is no yoga without knowing who we are.

This is a more slowly paced class involving dynamic and mindful movement, chanting, pranayama and meditation.

There are no levels in yoga. Everyone is welcome whether you are a beginner or a seasoned practitioner.
